The Azle Animal Shelter Humane Association was formed for two reasons. First, we provide funds for programs at the Azle Animal Shelter that go beyond the scope of traditional Animal Control and lead to an increase in adopted companion animals. This includes programs such as spay/neuter, microchipping, health maintenance, owner education and responsibility, and any others that will help reduce euthanasia rates at the shelter.
Second, The city of Azle has outgrown its shelter and a new facility with more than double the current capacity needs to be constructed. Failure to act soon will result in a lack of space requiring more animals to be euthanized as the city continues to grow. AASHA plans to work in unison with the city to raise the required capital to make this new shelter a reality. To that end, AASHA has begun a capital campaign to raise a portion of the funds necessary for a new shelter. By pursuing grants and donations from individuals and the business community, we can shorten the time between critical need and reality.
