What is Cestex used for:
Pet Meds Cestex - Epsiprantel is an anthelminthic (dewormer) used to treat tapeworm infections in dogs and cats.
How Cestex should be used:
The usual dose of epsiprantel in dogs is 2.5mg/pound as a single dose. The usual dose in cats is 1.25mg/pound given as a single dose. Fasting is not required nor is it recommended.
What are the side effects of Cestex:
No side effects were observed during clinical field trials.
What special precautions are there for Cestex:
Do not give this medication to kittens and puppies under 7 weeks of age. Because humans can contract tapeworm from pets it is important to maintain good personal hygiene. It is also important to eliminate fleas on the pet and in the household and to not feed the pet rodents or uncooked meat or fish. To prevent reinfection, daily cleanup of stools is recommended.
In the event of overdose:
Contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room.
How should I store Cestex:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed. Store tablets at room temperature away from excess heat, light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Keep this medication away from children and pets.
