The Aryan Molossus
Once a Warrior, Today a Loyal Companion and a Family-Protector

Should you ever decide that you need a big dog, with an imposing posture, which can look threatening and majestic at the same time, the Aryan Molossus is definitely one breed that you must take into consideration.

The Armant
The Egyptian Dog with a Lot of Love to Give

To some of you, the Armant is better known as the “Egyptian Sheepdog” and, just as the name suggests it, it was bred to be a herding dog. However, in ancient times, it was used mostly as a guard dog. This breed is originally from Egypt and named after the town of Armant. Its loyalty and agility are the two main characteristics which make this dog special.

The Atlas Terrier
The Small Dog With a Massive Dose of Energy

At a glimpse, the Atlas Terrier can be easily mistaken with the Jack Russell Terrier. However, there are some differences that may help you tell these two cousins apart. Before deciding to buy or adopt a dog of this breed, there are some things that you have to take into consideration. Unfortunately, this is quite a rare breed of dogs in our days.

Anglos-Francaises de Petite Venerie
It Is Impossible Not to Love Them

Anglos-Francaises de Petite Venerie are the smallest dogs in the Anglos-Francais category. However, the name „Petite”, meaning „small”, is not at all referring to the size of the dogs, but to the game they are after. Even if they've been around since the 16th century, today, these dogs are not easy to find. So if you have decided to adopt one, you can be sure that you will have a unique pet.

Dog training collars

There are many, many different types of training collars available today, let us guide you through this smorgasbord of choices. Today we will take a look at some of the available collars we can purchase for our dogs.

The buckle collar. The buckle collar is so named because it is really like a buckle that we use for our pants. Buckle collars have fasteners to secure them over the dog’s neck. The buckle collars for dogs come in many different varieties. There are buckle collars which are flat, rolled, made of nylon, or made of leather. The most common buckle collars are the ones that are made in nylon. They are the easiest to clean, never shrink and they come in all different colors and styles. The leather ones are not very easy to clean and if wrongly washed they have been known to shrivel or shrink.

Next is the, Limited Choke Collar. These collars are similar to the choke chain but they have rings at the end which allow for a few inches of give. To use these collars, you simply have to ease the dog collar over the head of your dog and slip it down its neck and tighten it a little. These collars can often help in training your dog.

An outdated training collar is the choke chain. This was formerly used by dog owners before the invention of the other types of more humane collars. Choke chains were mostly used for punishment and correction. When a dog misbehaves, the owner would just jerk on the leash and the dog would choke, letting him think twice of what he is doing. Before, choke chains were really made of chains but now they are mostly made of nylon. Choke chains are a torture to dogs, and in some cases when the jerking is very hard, it can damage the windpipe of the dog WE DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THESE, IF YOU HAVE ONE PLEASE DISPOSE OF IT AND PURCHASE A NEW LIMITED CHOKE CHAIN, OR SNAP-AROUND CHOKE.

An innovation of the choke chain dog training collar is the Snap-around choke. This is like the choke chain but designed so that it does not damage a dog’s windpipe. The snap-around choke is has a very snug fit and it should be worn high on the dog’s neck and when the leash is pulled, it does not damage the dog’s windpipe and does not jolt the dog as much.

There are also collars called the no-bark collars. These are not always collars but they are used to train dogs not to bark. These have been known to be very damaging and not beneficial to the dog, we do not recommend these.

There are still so many more dog training collars available. Dog collars are constantly evolving to make them as comfortable and dog-friendly as possible. Other dog training collars include: light-up collars, they light up or glow at night which helps to locate your dog, and for others to see him; ornamental collars; schutzhund training collars and many others.

An important thing to remember in choosing a dog training collar is that they must cater to your needs and should never be damaging to any part of the dog’s anatomy. It is also important to weigh the pros and cons of each type of collar so that both you and your dog will benefit from the training collar you chose.
