The Aryan Molossus
Once a Warrior, Today a Loyal Companion and a Family-Protector

Should you ever decide that you need a big dog, with an imposing posture, which can look threatening and majestic at the same time, the Aryan Molossus is definitely one breed that you must take into consideration.

The Armant
The Egyptian Dog with a Lot of Love to Give

To some of you, the Armant is better known as the “Egyptian Sheepdog” and, just as the name suggests it, it was bred to be a herding dog. However, in ancient times, it was used mostly as a guard dog. This breed is originally from Egypt and named after the town of Armant. Its loyalty and agility are the two main characteristics which make this dog special.

The Atlas Terrier
The Small Dog With a Massive Dose of Energy

At a glimpse, the Atlas Terrier can be easily mistaken with the Jack Russell Terrier. However, there are some differences that may help you tell these two cousins apart. Before deciding to buy or adopt a dog of this breed, there are some things that you have to take into consideration. Unfortunately, this is quite a rare breed of dogs in our days.

Anglos-Francaises de Petite Venerie
It Is Impossible Not to Love Them

Anglos-Francaises de Petite Venerie are the smallest dogs in the Anglos-Francais category. However, the name „Petite”, meaning „small”, is not at all referring to the size of the dogs, but to the game they are after. Even if they've been around since the 16th century, today, these dogs are not easy to find. So if you have decided to adopt one, you can be sure that you will have a unique pet.

German Shepherds

German Shepherd Dogs are the companions you will want to have around when in trouble. The breed has shown its worthiness through its numerous and indeed admirable qualities: cleverness, bravery, loyalty, dignity, beauty; and these are just a few of the qualities that have made this breed one of the most beloved dog breeds, especially within the United States.

German Shepherds are active and strong dogs, which always rest confident and self assured. If they feel they are following a certain purpose, they will do their best to finish whatever task they are given. Their intelligence and determination makes them fast learners and their bravery makes them real heroes. If you are the owner of such a wonderful dog, make sure you socialize him properly; otherwise he might develop over-protective tendencies. Also, be aware that these dogs are skeptical with strangers and it will take a while before they become friends with someone they do not know.

German Shepherd Dogs need to feel they are useful and appreciated, so leaving them alone for long periods of time is not a good thing to do. They need to be around their families and, if well trained, they will make an awesome companion for your children. In order for them to develop their positive traits, their owners must be firm with them and they must devote their time to train them from an early age. Although they will not respond to harsh treatments, German Shepherds need to feel the authority of their owner; otherwise they will not follow the commands.

Unlike other breeds, German Shepherd Dogs always need to stay focused and pursue some goal; they need to channel their mental and physical energy towards a well-defined purpose. They do not like laying around and relaxing under the sun; they need to be involved in whatever their owners are involved in, especially if the activity requires their special skills.

Unfortunately, due to inappropriate breeding, German Shepherds are now prone to some hereditary diseases, including: blood and digestive disorders, dysplasia of the hips and elbows, epilepsy, bloat, dwarfism, chronic eczema, inflammations of the cornea, flea allergies.

If you want to keep them healthy you must ensure they receive proper training, both physical and mental. They like being involved in difficult activities that require intense effort and they need to be trained daily, taken for long walks or runs. German Shepherd Dogs have also a playful side and enjoy the occasional Frisbee and ball games.

Another thing you should consider about the German Shepherds is that they require regular brushing, shedding heavily during spring. Brush your pet daily, but do not exaggerate with bathing because it will lead to skin irritations. It would be better if you have a large yard for your dog, but he will also be fine in an apartment, as long as you follow the indications from above and keep him involved and focused. If you treat him right, your dog will live long, the average life expectancy being about 13 years.

German Shepherd Dogs need you to give a meaning to their lives.
