Dogs in the bathroom
Bathrooms also can pose dangers for dogs. Keep your medicines in high medicine cabinets so they are far out of your dog’s reach. You’ll be surprised by what a dog can open, so don’t keep them in your lower cabinet. For your bathroom cabinets and drawers, use childproof latches. You can never be too cautious about medicine. For dogs, even common and over-the-counter medications can be toxic. Among potentially fatal for dogs are Ibuprofen (Advil) and acetaminophen (Tylenol).
Keep goodies such as shampoos, soaps, bath beads out of the puppy’s reach. Most likely, they will not kill him, but they will cause an upset stomach, and you will probably not appreciate the mess and the loss of toiletries. Also, plastic and glass containers can pose a danger if they are stepped on, chewed or ingested.
Another temptation for a dog is the wastepaper basket. Discarded medications are an example of a hidden danger that can be found there. If a dog gets into the wastebasket, he can cause a big mess by spreading garbage all around your house. Make sure to keep the wastebasket out of the dog’s reach.
