The right dog for you
When you are choosing a
dog, consider the age, breed, background and temperament of that
dog. At the same time, take a serious look at yourself and your life. Do you love to travel? Do you have a spouse or a significant other, kids, or other
pets? Will you be willing or able to spend money in order to maintain your new
pet’s health and provide him with the best food and daily care? What sacrifices are you willing to make and what sacrifices are you not willing to make?
It is essential to choose a kid-friendly
dog if you have children. This means either finding a puppy you can raise yourself, or visiting a local shelter or rescue facility to find an adult
dog which has been temperament tested with kids. If you have other
dogs, are you certain that your current
dog will be willing to accept a new
dog in the house? Will the new
dog you have found be
dog friendly? If you have a cat, you must realize that not all
dog breeds are acceptable for homes with cats. There are some breeds that have predatory instincts that make them unfit to live with a cat, especially if they haven’t been properly socialized. For example, Siberian huskies are known for their interest in small, fast and furry things—not exactly the situation you would want to put Frisky in.
