The off leash area is a very large open field surrounded by water with a small unfenced entranceway from the parking lot. Excellent space - currently under a trial run. Visitors please be responsible regarding poop scooping given this is a trial and we all want it to become permanent. Off leash area inside county park. Location: James Island County Park, 871 Riverland Drive. Directions: I-26 to Exit 212B, 526 West (Savannah). Follow to the end at Hwy 17 (Savannah Highway). Turn left onto Hwy 17 North. Follow to Hwy 171 (Folly Road). Follow 171 over the Wappoo Cut Bridge. At the foot of the bridge make a right on to Highway 700 (Maybank Hwy). Go to the third stop light and make a left on to Riverland Drive. Park entrance is 1-1/2 miles on the right.
