The Providence Animal Control Center moved from a two stall barn in Roger Williams Park in 1973 to it's current location which had fifteen inside dog runs and eight outside runs. During the past 23 years many improvements have been made to the center.
In 1993 a plan was put in place to improve the center.
On May 26, 1994 it happened, a new completely remodeled Animal Control facility was dedicated. The renovations included twelve additional inside/outside dog runs bringing the total to forty-nine dog runs, a new puppy and kitten room with fifteen stainless steel cages, a dog quarantine room with twelve inside outside runs, a cat quarantine room with six stainless steel cages, a dog wash room, a new reception area, and we are now top notch.
