The Jefferson County Humane Society was organized in January 1996 to enhance the appeal of Jefferson County by promoting a safe and humane environment for animals AND people. We are an ALL-VOLUNTEER organization dedicated to protecting companion animals through education and legislation, addressing the animal overpopulation problem, and to improving Jefferson County Animal Control services.

Jefferson County has become a high-growth area. This has resulted in increased demands on the already burdened Law Enforcement and Animal Control Departments. Concerned individuals must unite to protect companion animals from needless pain and suffering, reduce the numbers of homeless animals, and provide much-needed assistance to the Jefferson County Animal Control Department.

The Jefferson County Humane Society is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. YOUR DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE! We rely on your generosity as we receive no funding from government agencies, other animal welfare groups, or the United Way. Our foster homes are licensed by the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Although the Jefferson County Humane Society has a limited sheltering capacity, we operate a valuable awareness network for the community.
