The Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County leads the community in animal welfare and assures sanctuary for all animals in need. - Mission Statement

Our shelter promotes the humane care and treatment of all animals and supports cooperative humane efforts throughout the state of Wisconsin. We are not associated with any other local or national humane society.

HAWS' animal caretakers arrive early each morning, but the shelter does not open for viewing and adopting animals until 1 p.m. Each morning, our caretakers clean 40 dog runs, over 50 cat cages, two puppy pits and the animal display areas in our lobby. Also, animals are bathed, fed, exercised and adoptions are completed. Thank you for respecting HAWS' shelter hours.
