Choose the Airedale Terrier as a Pet and Say Good-Bye to Boredom
“The King of the Terriers”, the Airedale terrier comes from Airedale, Yorkshire, England, and it is the largest of the terrier breeds. It comes from crossing the old and vanished breeds of the Black-and-Tan terrier with the Otterhound. It is also said that they have the Manchester terrier in their blood. They were initially bred to hunt otters (reason for which they are also called the Waterside Terrier) and hares in the valley of the Aire river - that also gave its name to the breed - and to herd sheep, being both shepherd and hunting dogs.

The Africanis Dog From the South African Plains to Your Home
Dog breeders do not officially recognize Africanis as a breed. Also known as the Bantu Dog or the Zulu Dog, the breed developed in South Africa and it is basically comprised of similar breeds that are originally from the area. However, dog historians have acquired enough evidence to conclude that, originally, the breed lived in the East and Middle East and migrated to Africa in ancient times. The Zulu Dog is a perfect companion for people, whether we are talking about more traditional activities like hunting or herding, or simply about the pleasure of having a dog companion.

The Afghan Hound Elegance and Distinction
If the old saying that claims that dogs and masters resemble each other is true, then the Afghan hound is surely the dog most likely to be seen in the presence of an aristocrat. Its silky, thick coat will match any of its masters' designer dresses or elegant suits. Distinguished in looks and personality, this is one of the breeds that you can't stop looking at when seeing on the street and that you are very likely to see at a dog show.

The Aidi Dog A Perfect Watchdog
Of Moroccan origin, the Aidi dog evolved as a watchdog for herds of goats and sheep. For this reason, it has heightened senses that are very good at detecting threats and its instincts are perfectly in tune, resulting in a speedy and efficient reaction. These characteristics are also perfect for a hunting dog - so it is also very good at filling that role. Very courageous, this breed has evolved in the Morrocan mountains, protecting itself and its owners from many vicious predators like wildcats, but also from strangers. Also called the Berber (it was commonly used by Berber tribes), this breed is very similar to Pariah dogs - to which it is believed to be related.

Hearts From Heaven Animal Rescue, Inc. was started in 1997 to help abandoned, abused and neglected animals people just decided to throw away. My car broke down in front of the Kanawha pound. I went inside to use the phone to call someone to help me with my car and while waiting, I decided to stroll inside the pound to look at all of the animals. One puppy caught my eye immediately and I asked what was the procedure for adopting an animal, and they proceded to tell me. I then told them about the puppy that caught my eye and adopted her. I loved her so much that I wanted to help others get adopted. That's where Hearts From Heaven Animal Rescue, Inc. got started. I would pick up abandoned and stray animals that were just traveling on the street. Of course, I did try to see if they belonged to anyone in the neighborhood first, but no one seemed to even care about the poor abandoned animals. As people got word that I was rescuing animals, I started getting many calls from people that knew where there was an abandoned animal. And, the calls just kept coming. I asked people why they didn't call the pound and they told me that the dogs would be put down in a matter of days if they called them. This was new to me. Since I adopted my puppy from the pound, I thought they adopted all of the animals out. I found out later that what people were telling me was true, and I wanted to help as many animals as I could by adopting them out to good homes. We are a non-profit organization and all of our money goes to help the abandoned animals. Before the animals are adopted out, they are spayedneutered and given their shots and worming. This is possible because of people like you who donate or adopt a dog, puppy, cat or kitten. Our money just goes to the next animal in line waiting for a new home. The adoption fees go towards the spayingneutering, shots, etc. The donations go towards flea and tick products, wormer, shots, medicine, etc. When I started this rescue, I was living in Kanawha City in a small home with a small yard with little room for dogs to run. Years later, I was able to purchase a farm in Jackson County where I now have lots of room not only for dogs and cats, but horses too. As many of you may be aware, my dream come true house burned down in February, 2004. I lost everything I owned, including three of my personal pets. I am now starting over again and with the help of many anonymous people, I am getting back on my feet
