The Franklin County Humane Society is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation founded to prevent cruelty to animals, to educate the community, to maintain a foster care and adoption program, and to reduce future generations of unwanted companion animals by developing and maintaining a low cost spay/neuter program.
Most of our dogs and cats are now being housed at Animal Harbor, although some are in foster homes. Our colleague organization, the Sewanee Animal Rescue League (SARL), merged with us in 2003 to join in the operation of our new shelter, which serves all of Franklin County.
