City of Clovis Animal Control Shelter is a municipal shelter under the direction of the Clovis Police Department. We are a very small shelter without much in the way of funds. We do not have a veterinarian or animal behaviorist/evaluation team on staff, and often do not know the background of the animals that come into the shelter.

This is, unfortunately, a kill shelter. Due to a major animal overpopulation problem in Clovis, we do not have the resources (or space) to keep most animals for more than a few days. So please, if you're interested in an animal, try to get to the shelter as soon as possible. Animals are generally euthanized on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, before the shelter opens. We have tried to estimate the euthanasia date and post it with the animal, but it is not definite. Some may be euthanized earlier due to illness or aggression. If you live a long distance away, it's a good idea to call before making the trip and make sure the animal you're interested in is still available. If the animal is to be euthanized within the next day, please call as soon as possible. The shelter cannot return long distance calls, so if you live outside the Clovis calling area and cannot call during business hours, please use the email below.

Please note that Animal Control can only pick up stray animals from within the limits of Clovis proper. We are unable to pick up animals from outside this jurisdiction. Should you have a stray and live outside the city proper but within Curry County, please contact the Curry County Sherriff or, on Cannon AFB, the Security Forces Squadron.
