The majority of the dogs and cats admitted to the Augusta Animal Services shelter become a number, statistic to be counted, inventoried and await their turn to die. Most will die silently, frightened and alone to be disposed of like trash at the solid waste land fill. There are many stories, which are never known, let alone told.
