Welcome to ARFS! Animal Rescue and Farm Sanctuary is located in Trego, Wisconsin. We are a non-profit tax exempt organization that is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of farm animals, primarily horses. Since our efforts began in 1998 we have been in several news segments, seen on Animal Planet and been in several newspaper articles. Animal Rescue and Farm Sanctuary is also the recipient of the Jefferson award and the Caring Tree award given for volunteering and outstanding involvement in the community.

Over the years we have encountered and studied several issues regarding animal abuse and neglect ranging from puppy mills, the exotic trade and horse slaughter. We have chosen to become most involved in horse rescue because of the high demand for it in our geographical area.

All types of animals have been accepted into ARFS over the years including a few buffalo calves, zebu, watusi, ostrich, emus, llama, donkeys, mules, potbellied pigs, parrots, and the common mixed variety of dogs and cats.

We offer animals for adoption at all times. Potential owners must call us on the phone as a part of the adoption process. Potential owners are required to come and meet the animal that they have interest in. If they do not make a positive connection we may have a more suitable animal on the farm that would fit their needs better. Our goal is to place animals in the proper homes according to the animals needs.

Adoption fees for horses range from $100.00 to $800.00 depending on age, health and dicipline. Adoptions can be out of state and we prefer that the new owners provide transportation. We will transport for a fee within a reasonable distance if we have time in our schedual.
