About the Shelter Incorporated in 1966, Anderson Animal Shelter provides temporary housing for approximately 3,400 dogs, cats, birds, gerbils, hamsters, ferrets and other homeless or abandoned pets. We are committed to a low-kill philosophy (100% adoption of adoptable animals) and so do not place time limits on any of the animals in our care. In 2001 an on-site veterinary clinic was added to provide health care for Shelter animals and to assist in the goal of spaying/neutering all adopted dogs and cats before they leave the Shelter.

For adoption fees, please see the "Adoptable Animals" page.

Our Mission: To establish Anderson Animal Shelter as a premier facility dedicated to compassionate and humane treatment of homeless companion animals through direct care, education and communithy outreach programs.
