If I am bitten how should I care for a dog bite?
* Always wash the dog bite with soap and warm water, try to get any dirt, saliva, or any other particles washed out of your wound.
* Apply pressure with a clean cloth or towel to the dog bite to stop any bleeding, if the bleeding does not stop within 15 minutes you should proceed to a doctors office or emergency room.

Banjo
Meet Banjo!! This handsome guy is a group favorite. He is we think a German Shepherd Belgian Tervuren mix, and weighs about 70 pounds.
Banjo is a GREAT guy! He rides very well in the car, is housetrained, knows basic commands sit, down, stay, and will come when he's called. He loves people and loves affection, and can be SUCH a goofball! He also gets along very well with other dogs and likes to play with them, but is just as happy to lay next to you on the couch and cuddle. He will chase cats, but does not want to hurt them. He walks pretty well on a leash with a few reminders of his manners! and with his calm, laid-back demeanor, would be a great dog for any family, especially one with children! He's currently fostered with a 4 year old and is great!
UPDATE Our vet saw Banjo recently for some soreness in his legs and confirmed that he does have hip dysplasia, although mild, as well as arthritis. The vet does not feel that the hip dysplasia is severe enough at this time for him to undergo surgery, but she did warn that at some point later in his life this may become necessary he is about 2 years old now. He is on a glucosaminechondroitin supplement for his joints, and does not generally have many issues with his hips at all the main problem being after a long day of playing, he is sore and has some difficulty getting up after lying down. The vet recommended that he get daily walks to keep his muscles stretched and strong, and his foster mom has been doing this. Banjo will need a forever home who is willing to continue his walks and supplements, and is understanding of the fact that he may need surgery someday.
Banjo's adoption fee is $200, which includes all vetting spayneuter, all vaccinations including rabies, heartworm test started on prevention, started on fleatick prevention, microchip and a leash collar. If you are interested, please fill-out an online application at www.stopthesuffering.org
