What is Cystolamine used for:
Pet Meds Cystolamine - Cystolamine Time Release Capsules is an adrenergic agent to aid in the management of urinary incontinence in dogs.
How Cystolamine should be used:
FDA approved for use as a supplement for urinary incontinence, the usual dose of Cystolamine Time Release Capsules in dogs less than 40 lbs is ½ capsule per day. For dogs 40 to 100 lbs give 1 capsule per day and for dogs over 100 lbs give 1 ½ capsules per day. Dosage may be adjusted as necessary. Do not exceed 1.8mg/lb per day. Medication may be given with food if necessary.
What are the side effects of Cystolamine:
Side effects when using Cystolamine Time Release Capsules may include restlessness, irritability, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure and loss of appetite.
What special precautions are there for Cystolamine:
This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it. Do not use in animals with glaucoma, enlarged prostate, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, heart problems or high blood pressure. Do not use in pregnant or nursing animals. Do not give this medication with ephedrine or epinephrine and do not give within 2 weeks of using a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as selegilene. Use caution when this medication is given with digitalis, NSAIDs such as aspirin or Rimadyl, tricyclic antidepressants such as clomipramine, and beta blockers such as propranolol. Always tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what other medications your pet is taking. This product is for veterinary use only, not for human use.
In the event of overdose:
Contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room. Symptoms of overdose may include increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, seizures or coma.
How should I store Cystolamine:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed. Store this medication at room temperature, away from excess heat, light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
