Antifreeze laws and your dog
Antifreeze is a very dangerous toxic and usually fatal substance. It causes kidney failure. Unfortunately, every year, there are thousands of dogs who die from antifreeze poisoning because it has a sweet taste that they’re attracted to. There are some states, including California, where there is a law that makes the antifreeze manufacturers that include more than 10 percent ethylene glycol in their antifreeze to add a bitter ingredient that would make the toxic substance less appealing to dogs. However, wholesale antifreeze is exempted from this law, and that means that most of the mechanics use the toxic kind.
