I adopted a chihuahua from cheatham county animal shelter, that was on death row and was on the list for the next killing!! He came in with 2 other dogs that went to no kill shelters, but because he had a "problem with nipping" he was going to be put down. I took him to the vet for his scheduled neutering and the vet found he tested + for heartworms. I asked them to do an x-ray to check his heart out and they found he had a broken rib on the left side. (probably explains the nipping problem)! I can't stand the thought that my sweet angel was going to be put down for something that absolutely was not his fault!! He has never even growled at me or my family!! He has been on his doxycycline for 10 days now and starts his heart worm treatments in 4 days. (I'm a nervous wreck that he will not do well with the treatments!!!) I am so suprised that the shelter did not do heart worm test on him since they gave him all other immunizations and deworming! But they said they do not ever do heart worm tests unless you request it when you adopt the animal! (thats a great thing for people to know!!) I do have to be greatful that they made a special consideration for me to adopt my new SWEET BABY, because they were not going to let me have him until I literally begged them to death!! I actually was getting ready to take him and run and just let them go ahead and call the cops on me! I just was not going to take no for an answer!! Well that is my adoption story! Have a great day!!
