Hello,

If anyone has ever volunteered, tell me how it was and how you loved it.
I want to work with animals and want to help them, I think volunteering would be fun and a learning experience, since ive never done it before.

Please share your comments
Thankyou!

I am a Vet Tech student and while I was working with a veterinarian I was also volunteering at a local animal shelter.... I just went in and started helping them out on some stuff that they needed done... ESPECIALLY taking pictures and loading them online and/or posting them up at local stores, vets, etc.... If you know of any animal shelters in your area then take a trip down to each and every one of them... some may need help more than others... then ask what you can do to help... Please keep in mind if the place is a high/low/or no kill shelter.... If you're one that will not let an animal be put down then go to a low or no kill shelter... a lot of high kill shelters put down close to 20 some dogs a week... if not more..... it takes a lot for an animal lover to help out in a high kill shelter... I got to where (with approval of the shelter) I was adopting a highly adoptable dog out to foster just to find it another "good" home and basically just allowing it a little longer to find a home... but it takes a lot financially out of you to do that... Also, keep in mind that animal lovers absolutely HATE going to an animal shelter just because of how bad it makes them feel to walk through knowing they can't take them all home... so internet and public pictures is a way to reach out from outside the shelter to help find homes.... My county started picking one animal per week to go into the local newspaper with astonishing results... usually that one pet is gone to a new home on the day of newspaper publishing.... Well there's some hints to help out... Hope you have fun searching and G'luck working with the lil critters......

Animals R so cool, thats y u should help ANY animal shelter even if there isn't one in your local area. One problem, u have to be at the age of 16 to help in most animal shelters.
