Sick Cat - 8/19/2008 10:19:48 AM

A few months ago, we adopted a kitten from the Palm Beach Animal Shelter and last week he suddenly had trouble breathing.  We took him to the vet and he was given a shot of penicilin and 10 days of amoxicilin drops.  He isn't getting any better after 7 days.  Has anyone else had this experience with an adopted cat?  Will he ever get better??  I heard it's common in kennel cats.  Should we take him to another vet??  Please advise.

I think you need to call the first vet back and tell him the medicine is not working.

We adopted a kitten a couple of years ago who was incredibly sick with an upper respiratory condition.  It did take awhile for her to get better.  Now, she is extremely healthy without any problems.  The vet said that some cats just grow out of it, with proper care, of course.  That's exactly what she did.  She's our little miracle.
