What can be done to report dogs being shot in our neighborhoods and even in our back yards.  we live in a suburban neighborhood with fairly large lots of land, most owners have fences and invisible fences to contain our dogs.

Last night someone shot our dog.  We returned from a movie and found him in our back yard barley wanting to move.  We took him to the emergency vet and he was bleeding internally, the shot tore his aorta.  Luckily he is in recovery.

Who can I report this to?  What can be done to make a difference? Am at a loss as to who to turn to.....

Call the police!  Even if there's not an animal cop in your area, it is still illegal to shoot someone's dog.  Animal cruelty is on the books.
It is also known that hurting animals can escalate to hurting people too.
I'm sure the cops want to know about this.
