Neighbors Pets - 7/21/2008 6:00:46 PM

My neighbor has 2 dogs. All they feed them are scraps. One dog, a chow/lab mix, will not let the other dog(boxer) eat and they will not sit with the boxer to make sure she gets fed. The dog is EXTREMELY malnourished and has worms. We have offered to worm the dog and find her a home but the neighbors say they are worming her and feeding her, but it is very obvious they are not feeding her. What should I do? Should I report these people for animal abuse? Who should I call?

YES, I would report them and let the Police handle it. When someone does not take care of there animal, then someone else needs too.....

I have a neighbor who keeps a 3 year old German Shepard in a 10'x10' kennel with a dog house inside 24x7. The dog is fed once a day and the kennel is hosed out twice a week with the dog inside. The dog has very little human contact and is never taken out for exercise and has no run attached to the kennel. My question is " can this be considered as abuse? I wouldn't treat my dogs this way ever but I'm just not sure what to do. I have spoken with the owner and he see's no issue here at all and has told me to mind my own business. Any suggestions ??

I do agree that something should be done but please be sure that everything is as it seems because you can read my story I posted in the wrong spot under adoption storys In my case it is all a misunderstanding and my family is suffering alot because of it but from what I read that is very cruel so call your local ASPCA and have them come out and look at the dog then they will tell the owner what needs to be done!

In my eyes that is very cruel because this dog is very high energy breed they need exercise and need to be active the breed itself needs lots of human contact unless they are training as a guard dog. Without being in contact with humans that will give him a greater chance of being unpridictable around them. I'm not sure what your local ASPCA would say they might say as long as he is fed and has a reasonable living area that there isn't much they can do but if they know what I know about the breed that is cruel ! It wouldn't hurt to call an see if there is anything that can be done because I really have a soft spot for that breed and I miss my shepard and it sucks that some people can just ignore them like that.My unfortunate story is under adpotion stories under heartbroken  family and I'm about to have to fight tooth and nails for my baby.Good luck I hope you get to help him out!
