Is someone in my neighborhood hurting animals? - 2/21/2008 6:44:22 PM

About a year ago we moved into a new neighborhood and brought with us 2 cats and a dog.  A few months after we moved one of our cats disappeared.  One week later our 2nd cat disappeared. About 7 months later we got another cat.  We had him a couple months & one day he came home w/ 4 holes in his left side about the size of an ice pic or sharp teeth. The vet seemed to think it was bite marks but the holes were inconsistant w/ bite marks. (they were too far apart from one another) The cat healed in about 2 weeks & was dying to get outside, so we let him go outside and a few days later he came home in the same condition w/ holes in his other side.  We had to put him to sleep.  My husband thinks that someone in our neighborhood could be torturing cats. Has anyone had any experience with anything like this? Besides talking to neighbors are there any sites that list reported animal cruelty and the areas of occurance?

Have you asked the neighborhood about it?  Talked to kids parents?  Or even thought of following your cat?  And if two cats disappeared then why would you get another one, knowing that something would happen wether it was an animal or human that got it?
Dont get another cat if you dont plan on taking action first.  Or make it an inside cat.
